This is my mom’s recipe. It’s one of the first meals I learned how to cook. My kids love it!
Ingredients:
2 red onions, chopped finally.
800 grams of peas (I use frozen peas)
1/2 kilo of minced lamb meat
4 cups fresh tomato puree.
2 cups of water (optional)
1 tablespoon of tomato paste (optional)
2 teaspoomns of salt
2 teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon of cumin
Served with white rice.
Directions:
Sauté the onions in some olive oil until golden.
Add the minced lamb and cook on a high heat stirring constantly until almost cooked. (It will continue to cook with the peas and you don't want it to become dry.)
Add the peas and stir to combine.
Add tomato sauce and leave to simmer until peas are cooked.
Cooking time will very depending on if you are using fresh or frozen peas.
Add two cups of water. (optional depending on the consistency you're looking for.)
Add spices and salt. Adjust to taste.
You can add a teaspoon of tomato paste if you prefer the color to be deeper.
